Blue Light Junction is a natural dye studio, alternative color lab, retail space, dye garden & educational facility in central Baltimore. Founded by textile artist, farmer, and natural dyer Kenya Miles, Blue Light Junction is focused on growing, processing, and preserving the history of natural dyes and their artistic, practical, and commercial applications.
The Studio
The 2,400-square foot space will house a dye kitchen, facilities to grow, dry, store, and process natural dye plants and pigments as well as a retail space to spotlight local practitioners work within the plant realm.
Natural Dye Garden
The Natural Dye Garden is located in the “annex” lot of Hidden Harvest Farm in Greenmount West. We continue to gain knowledge of plants native to our bio-region as well as exploring historical and medicinal plants and fibers.
Alternative Color Lab
We endeavor to build the world we would like to see one step at a time. Our facility is looking to consult and partner with businesses interested in further developing their companies in a sustainable manner while applying plant based models and a closed loop cycle.
Support The Studio.
Amidst the COVID-19 Pandemic, we continue to forge ahead with focus and commitment towards building the first natural dye studio in Baltimore City. We rely on the resources of our volunteers and community at large to make the studio what we know it can be. With additional capital we could do so much more. Invest in Baltimore, invest in Blue Light Junction!

“There was a peace in that blue light, more peace than sleep itself, and more than that there was a freedom, and I knew that the elders had not lied, that there really was a home place of our own…”
