From Dec 11th to Dec 14th, Blue Light Junction is opening its doors for a full weekend of community, making, and holiday creativity. Join us on Thursday, Dec 11th, for the relaunch of our Concept Store, featuring a newly curated selection of handcrafted items from local artists.
Across the weekend, we’ll offer open market hours, hands-on programming, and a concluding reception to honor the Return of the Residents exhibition. Check our weekend programming
December Art Walk | Closing Reception & Community Dialogue

Join us for the closing reception of Material, Memory, & Contemporary Hands during the December Station North Art Walk from 5 to 9 pm.
During the evening, from 6–7 PM, we invite you to participate in an artist conversation where IARR residents Jordan Brown and Diego Borgsdorf will lead A Community Dialogue: In the Company of Books. An intimate conversation about creativity, inspiration, and the books that shape their practices.
WoodBlock Printing Workshop with Trisha Gupta
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 13th | 10 am - 3 pm
PAID WORSHOP - REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Join artist and educator Trisha Gupta for our last workshop of the year: a hands-on exploration of traditional Indian woodblock printing — a practice rooted in centuries of artistry, storytelling, and cultural preservation. Guided by Trisha, participants will learn the fundamentals of block printing using hand-carved wooden blocks and indigo print paste. They will learn to create layered patterns, connect with the stories behind the motifs, and reflect on the threads that shape textile practices around the world.
1-1 Indigo Dye Session
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 14th | 11 am -6 pm
PAID SESSION - REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Join artist and BLJ Founder Kenya Miles for one-on-one, one-hour-long indigo dye sessions. Refresh a beloved old item and transform it into something new.
During your time, you will learn basic dyeing and resist techniques to create unique imagery. Participants are encouraged to be experimental and playful in their practice and journey.
Indigo Harvest Celebration: Obangsaek
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 15th | 2- 4:30pm
PAID WORKSHOP - REGISTRATION REQUIRED
Join us for a community harvest celebration honoring the turn of the indigo season through craft, sound, and tradition. Rooted in Obangsaek—the traditional Korean color theory representing five colors (white, yellow, blue, red, and black)—each honoring a natural element.
November Art Walk

Blue Light Junction is excited to open its doors during the November Art Walk, featuring community activities and an art exhibition. Join us for the community quilt project, where we will gather to share stories while stitching and piecing our quilt.
You can also visit our ongoing art Exhibition: "Material, Memory, & Contemporary Hands." The exhibition invites viewers to consider the role of material and memory in contemporary artmaking with an interactive material table. where you'll have the chance to experiment and explore various materials and techniques used by the artists.
Dia de Los Muertos Celebration

Latino Outdoor Baltimore and Blue Light Junction invite you to immerse yourself in the vibrant and colorful world of Día de los Muertos. This in-person event will encourage thoughtful reflections while dyeing using cempazúchitl and cochineal, and the opportunity to contribute to our community altar.

Join us at Blue Light Junction for a special opportunity to connect to cacao through story and senses.
We will honor Dia de los Muertos by playing with the duality of cacao bitterness and crafted chocolate sweetness, in the context of the cycle of life and death: bitterness as loss and mourning, sweetness as memory and celebration. Through sensory exploration and storytelling, we will design chocolate bars unique to our own experiences using premium, thoughtfully sourced ingredients.

CARVED CONCOCTIONS: Garden-to-Studio Printmaking
WEDNESDAY - OCTOBER 1, 8, 15, 22 | 5:30-8:30 pm
PAID 4 DAY SESSION WORKSHOP - REGISTRATION REQUIRED
In this workshop, interdisciplinary artist Vetiver will guide you through the art of printmaking using natural pigments made from vegetables, herbs, and spices commonly found in family recipes, remedies, and rituals. Centered in preservation, the goal of this workshop is to provide participants with basic printmaking techniques through various methods (botanical printing, monotype, and linocut), enabling them to walk away with greater self-efficacy in recording their lived experiences, traditions, or those of their family and community.

The exhibition will run from September 26 through December 30, 2025, featuring a range of media including textiles, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.

For Good Neighbor’s Design Camp we are excited to bring the conversation and creation home to Blue Light Junction. Exploring Light, Form, and Material: Inviting Conversation with La Loupe
Baltimore-based artist Jorgelina López will share her creative journey from textiles to lighting design, as well as the collaborative beginnings of La Loupe. Through images, stories, and a hands-on mini light demo that explores materials, Jorgelina will reflect on how materials transform when illuminated and how light shapes our most intimate spaces.

The Art of Indigo: A Hands-On Workshop in East Asian Textiles
In this hands-on workshop, you will create a unique fabric book featuring various shades of indigo and intricate patterns. We will explore two traditional East Asian textile techniques: Stitched Shibori and Soy Flour Paste Resist.
Naturally Dyed Tatreez Workshop
Join artists Hannah Atallah and Kenya Miles for a hands-on workshop where you will explore the intersection of natural dyeing and traditional Palestinian embroidery, known as tatreez.
COMMUNITY PLANTING DAY
Join us for a community day in the garden!
From noon to 2:30 PM, we will be transplanting baby indigo seedlings that we have been growing at the studio, along with cotton, black-eyed Susan, coreopsis, and safflower.

Please join us in this moment of reflection and remembrance making mementos to honor our ancestors. we'll make image transfers onto either pre-dyed or to-be-dyed fabric. Participants will have the opportunity to put their images-on-fabric dyed with marigold, walnut or cochineal and indigo. The patches can be used as standalone objects, or added to your favorite item of clothing, jacket, hoodie etc.
