Worn Histories: Designing & Making of the West African Smock with Jordan Jackson

We are excited to welcome Visiting Artist Jordan Jackson from Amen, Amen Studio, for a one-day Workshop and Trunk Show this coming August.

Jordan's work as an apparel designer explores storytelling through the craft and traditions of the African Diaspora and seeks to build an Africana design philosophy that connects history and heritage across the diaspora.

We are excited to have him facilitate a one-day workshop on the history, design, and construction of the West African-inspired smock.

In this workshop, you'll learn minimal-waste patterning and traditional West African tailoring techniques, designing and sewing your own garment from start to finish — leaving with a finished piece, a reference guide, and new skills to carry forward.
