In conjunction with BLJ’s Return of the Resident’s Exhibition, former Ibura Art & Research Resident Jordan Brown is hosting a dynamic series Performing Craft:
Performing Craft is a 6-week exploration of the relationship between craft techniques and performance. Participants will experiment with puppetry, collage, ritualized action, and material transformations to develop performing objects using diverse techniques.
Each session begins with a body-mind warm-up, followed by guided creative prompts and group discussion rooted in artist studies and readings.
Inspired by the scholarly work of Paulette Richards, the series emphasizes the interplay of material, ritual, and embodiment. Participants are encouraged to bring their own objects, practices, and skills. Please bring a journal and writing tool.
