Quilting Foundations (Workshop #2)
Quilting Foundations: with Rosina Saqib
Teaching artist, quilter, and natural dyer Rosina Saqib is offering a two-part workshop series on quilting with naturally dyed fabric. Designed as two complementary learning experiences, participants are encouraged to attend the series, but are welcome to take the Alchemy of Color or Quilting Foundations as stand alone offerings.
In the second part of the series, Quilting Foundations, students will learn the fundamentals of quilting. Using either naturally-dyed fabric from the workshop or fabric of their own choosing (medium-weight cotton or linen), participants will create a 20” x 20” quilted square block or pillow. We’ll gather inspiration by looking at the work of traditional and contemporary quilters. From there, students will learn how to plan a quilt, design with squares and half-square triangles, sew a quilt block, use hand-stitching as a design element, and assemble a pillow.
Note: Registration for this workshop closes on Sept 11th. If partial payment is made Sept 11th, Full payment must be made no later than the day of the workshop on September 19th.
