Bouquet Making: Sharing Spring Blossoms
Bouquet Making: Sharing Spring Blossoms with Ellen Frost of Local Color Flowers
Bouquet Making: Sharing Spring Blossoms is a hands-on floral workshop that highlights seasonal flowers, local farms, and the act of sharing beauty within a community. Centered on making two arrangements, one to take home and one to share with neighbors near Blue Light Junction, the gathering celebrates working with what is grown nearby and passing it along with care.
In collaboration with Local Color Flowers, owner Ellen Frost guides participants through the fundamentals of working with locally grown flowers, including stem preparation and the basic elements of floral design. Participants create simple arrangements using local flowers and foliage while learning practical tips for caring for cut flowers and extending their life.
Flowers are sourced from Hillen Homestead, Two Boots Farm, and other local farms, grounding the workshop in regional growing practices and the rhythms of spring.
Make One, Share One
Making two arrangements is central to the experience. One bouquet is made for yourself, to carry home. The second is created with the intention of being shared with neighbors near Blue Light Junction, reinforcing flowers as gifts, offerings, and connective material. This exchange helps build awareness that beauty is not distant or imported, but grown locally and present in our own backyards.
Rooted in Blue Light Junction’s garden and its ongoing work in Baltimore, the workshop creates space to slow down, work with the season, and experience the joy of making something meant both for yourself and for others.
No prior experience is necessary. All are welcome

Consider paying this amount if you have limited expendable income, have little or no access to financial support from family, have significant debt, and little or no access to savings. This is a discounted rate.
$55
5 spots
Consider paying this amount if doing so would be an investment, but not create hardship for your household. You might choose this rate if you are able to regularly meet your basic needs and have some expendable income, can travel every couple years without burden, and have some debt but are able to pay it regularly. This is the true cost of a session.
$65
5 spots
Please consider paying this amount if you are comfortably able to meet your basic needs, own the home you live in, have paid or pay for private education, travel recreationally, have access to financial savings and/or investments, have reliable work or do not have to work to meet your needs, have inherited wealth, and/or have increased earning privilege due to your race, gender, or education. This rate sustains me in working with folx who need a lower rate.
